Beginning April 1, 2024 the pickup days will be changing. Most of the township will be picked up on THURSDAY. The area marked in red on the attached map will be picked up on MONDAY. This area is East of M37/US10 then south of 44th, Merrillville to 40th St and south to west side of Forman and then North of US 10. This change will result in more efficiency at Republic, therefore saving money for us. If you have questions regarding this change in routing please call 231-723-4850.
If you are missed on pick up day please call 1-877-698-7274. If you still need a cart please contact the Twp Office 231-745-3471 Ex 2.
If you have extra bags, remember that you can stack them higher in the cart. The lid doesn’t have to close. But, they shouldn’t be so high that they fall off when the truck picks the cart up.
Please make sure you cart is to the road by 7 AM on pick-up day.

01/06/2024 update: Webber Township vacant land owners will be allowed to buy their own cans for trash removal. However only RED bags will be removed by Republic Services for disposal. The can must have something red on the can, example a red ribbon attached to the lid, to inform Republic the property has red bags for removal. Republic will NOT remove any other bags besides red which are available for free at the township hall. If you have contacted us this past week needing carts, delivery will be Monday January 8. If you were missed for trash removal and are in need of extra trash removal, please contact the office to add your name and address to the list. Extra trash pick up will be January 09.
INFO REGARDING REFUSE SERVICE BEGINNING JAN 1, 2024
1. If you are missed or have questions call 1-877-698-7274.
This is a call center which will direct your call to the Manistee office
for immediate review and a solution within 48 hours.
2. Pick up is Tuesday. Holiday weeks will be a day later.
3. No hazardous waste.
4. Carts must be within 3’ from the road and 3’ from other obstacles.
The opening MUST be facing the street.
5. Stickers for bulk items and RED BAGS (color has changed) for campers
will be available at the township hall.
6. When putting your waste into your cart it is recommended it is bagged,
but you can throw loose items into your cart as well.
7. Tagged bulk items can be put out for removal on any Tuesday collection
during the month, limited to one tagged bulk item a week.
8. There will not be a specific large item pick up event. Please use the weekly pick up.
9. Republic offers recycling but it is not included in this contract. It sounds like
the County is working on a plan for all townships.
10. Trash must be Republic Services cart or in Republic Services red bag for collection.
Any bags outside of carts that are not in Republic Services red bags will not be collected.
11. Any private drives will need to bring Republic Services Red Bags or Republic Services
trash cans out to a county-maintained road for collection.
Republic Services is quite a large company and has been in business for a long time and are a very
reputable company with the state. They have encountered many different situations in other townships
etc. They are willing to work out a way to have your refuse picked up if you have unusual
circumstances.
On Tuesday Dec. 19, they will start delivering Republic Carts to your door. They will be delivering to
permanent residents first and then to the seasonal. You may start using the Republic carts on the 28th
and then bring to curb on Jan 3 (because of the holiday)
Independent (A1 Services) will be picking up their carts sometime after their last pick up on Dec. 27. If
you are seasonal, you may have to make arrangements with them to pick yours up.
We were offered 3 year contracts .
A1’s 3 year bid was $460,800. Average $153,600. per year. In addition to this cost, we also
pay extra for the large items that they clean up throughout the year. The increase to each parcels for A1
would have been $52.00.
The 3 year bid we received from Republic is $613,956. Average $204,652 per year. This quote includes
everything regarding large items. There will be no hidden costs. They will have consistent employment,
consistent working equipment and they have a good reputation for accountability with their billing
process and high ratings for performance and following the laws. The new parcel cost will be $74.00
beginning in December 2024.
